Gaming Club (Video games) will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-4:15 pm in room 1231.  Mr. Sweet 
 
 
24       STAR Testing Deadline

 

24          Report Cards will be sent home with students. 

    

24            MS Semi-Formal Dance (7/8th grade only) will be A Night in Paris; Student Council members are working hard to make sure that this will be a great dance!

Here is the basic information:

When: Friday, March 24 from 6-8 pm

Cost: $5 to enter; Cookies, Punch, and Pictures will be available to purchase

Who can attend: WMS Students ONLY, grades 7-8

3/9    Later next week, a brief video will be sent to show you some ideas of appropriate attire for males and females.

 
7th & 8th Grade Students: 
During lunch on Thursday 3/23 & Friday 3/24, you may purchase your ticket for "A Night in Paris".  It will be your passport to enter the dance.  
Tickets are $5 a person.  
Students will have a table set up for advance ticket purchase for THURSDAY & FRIDAY only!  
Tickets will be available at the door starting at 6 pm on Friday evening, but entry will be faster with a ticket.
We cannot wait to dance the night away in Paris with you!

29           The WMS Science Club will be sponsoring a dodgeball tournament on Wednesday March 29th from 4:00 until 5:30. Here are the details

  • 5 people will comprise each team with 2 possible alternates, meaning you can have a maximum of 7 people on your team.

  • 5th and 6th graders will be competing against each other

  • 7th and 8th graders will be competing against each other

  • The cost is $5 per person.

  • The tournament is double elimination - meaning you must lose two games to be out

  • Each game is best two out of three

  • Concessions will be available

"Wabash Middle School is hosting a good old fashioned dodgeball tournament next Wednesday March 29th after school. Everyone can participate. Yes, the whole school grades 5-8 can be a part of this awesome experience. If you're a 5th or 6th grader you'll be competing against other 5th and 6th graders. If you're a 7th or 8th grader you'll be competing against other 7th and 8th graders. If you're interested in participating get a signup sheet in the front office, guidance office, or Mr. Evans' room." 

 

30       Forms and fees are due for marching band to Mr. Woodruff. We are still looking for students who are interested in joining! You do not need to be in band or choir to join. If interested, see Mr. Woodruff for more information.

MISC. INFORMATION

If you forgot something at home and know that a parent is dropping it off, please stop by the front office to pick it up between class, or with a pass from your teacher.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS: MS Announcements can be checked daily on the Apache Website.  On the menu bar, go to schools hover over Wabash Middle School.  A dropdown bar will appear, click on WMS Announcements.  Students must check their MS e-mail daily.

  

APACHE WAY COINS recognizes Wabash Middle School students that go ABOVE & BEYOND to help others, reaches special goals,  basically, we like to recognize them for being GREAT kids!  Students can turn the coin in to Mrs. Hodson in the front office before/after school, or during class time with teacher permission. and receive a treat and sign the Apache Way board in the lobby.  STUDENTS THAT RIDE THE BUS can not turn them in after school!  Three time throughout the year, names are put in a drawing and Mr. Mattern takes 2 students from each grade to lunch.  

 

AR GOALS - Students should be current or working towards AR goals and on pace to successfully meet the goal by the end of the 9 weeks. 

 

ART CLUB  - Art Club (for any MS student) will meet Monday, Wednesday & Friday in room 1220 with Mrs. Nordman from 8am-8:30am.

 

ATHLETIC CALENDAR - Check out the Athletic Schedule on the Apache Website, www.apaches.k12.in.us at the top of the page, click on Athletics.  

 

BIKE or SCOOTER - If you ride a bike or scooter to school, you must lock it up.  

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION: Send your Boxtops For Education to WMS, Attention Mrs. Vanderpool.  

 

BUSSES: Students must have a signed transportation form to ride a bus to and from school.  Students are not issued a BUS PASS unless it is an emergency.  

 

Campus Life:  Campus Life will begin 9/15 for 7th & 8th grade students that are interested.  Students not interested will go to class.  Students should have met their AR Goals to attend Campus Life.  8th graders will go on Thursday's after they eat lunch and will miss SSR time. 7th graders will come to lunch early on Thursdays, please send them about 12:15 and they will then go from lunch to Campus Life.

 

COMPUTERS MUST be in your computer bag when traveling from class to class or around the building.  

 

DELAY - IMPORTANT - If we have a 2 hour delay, class will start 2 hours later than the regular start time.    Example: Regular school start time: 8:35 , 2-hour delay start time: 10:35.

FCA : Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet every WEDNESDAY morning in the High School gym at 7:30 - 8:20. Have your parents or rides drop you off in front of high school or use door by athletic office. We will NOT be using the gym doors to come in to building!! All Athletes and Coaches are invited to come!

 

HANTIS CLUB - Mrs. Roth (PE Teacher)  Hantis Club started on Wednesday, January 18th and will be meeting on Wednesdays from 3:35-4:15pm to play.  Meet outside the gym doors in the hallway. Check out www.hantis.net for videos on what Hantis is and how to play!  All WMS students are welcome!  Come join us!  Students should have a ride waiting at 4:15 or have arrangements made in advance on how they are to get home.  

Homework​ ​Help​ ​Club​: ​ ​​ ​All​ ​students​ ​wanting​ ​to​ ​stay​ ​need​ ​to​ ​meet​ ​in​ ​Mrs.​ ​Dirig's​ ​room​ ​1137 (under​ ​the​ ​clock.)​ ​This​ ​time​ ​will​ ​be​ ​spent​ ​working​ ​on​ ​homework,​ ​projects,​ ​and​ ​reading​ ​AR​ ​books.  Computer​ ​gaming​ ​will​ ​not​ ​be​ ​allowed​ ​unless​ ​it​ ​is​ ​part​ ​of​ ​homework​ ​or​ ​a​ ​project.  Homework​ ​Help​ ​Club​ ​is​ ​from​ ​3:35-4:15.​ ​Everyone​ ​will​ ​be​ ​expected​ ​to​ ​stay​ ​until​ ​4:15​ ​unless​ ​you​ ​have​ ​a note. Students need to pre-arrange a ride home.  The office closes at 4pm.

LIBRARY:  Wabash Carnegie Library, Mr. Wimberly the public library director.  Contacted Mrs. Forrester, WMS Librarian, with the following information.  It is a great opportunity for our students that live outside the city limits to use the Wabash Carnegie Public Library at a reduced rate.  

The Student Card is for a student (K-12) who lives outside of the library taxing district, but attends one of the schools within the library taxing district [Wabash City Schools or private school within the Wabash City limits (library taxing district too)].(The cost was $40.00 before.)

3 months  $5.00

6 months  $10.00

9 months  $15.00

Annual     $20.00

PHYSICALS are required for all athletes and must be on file in the athletic office before you can participate. Physicals must be dated after April 1, 2016. 

 

 
PLASTIC LIDS & CAPS - We are still collecting plastic lids & bottle caps for recycling at WMS.

VOLUNTEERS:  WCS Badges are good for 5 years.  Volunteers will order their own background check on-line.  Background link can be found on top bar of Apache Home page under parent link.  THERE IS A CHARGE FOR THIS.  Two weeks after you submit your request online, you may contact our WCS Administrative Office at 260-563-2151 to get your picture taken for your badge. All badges have an expiration date and will expire 5 years from the date the background check was done.  THIS BADGE IS REQUIRED TO CHAPERONE AN EVENT/FIELD TRIP.

Breakfast: 7:50am in the cafeteria

School Hours: 8:35-3:35pm

Appointments: If your child has an appointment during the school day, please call or send a note to the school Attendance Secretary before 9am, at 1-260-274-0894.  Please leave a voicemail. The secretary will issue your child a pass to leave.  DO NOT SEND THESE NOTES TO TEACHERS.

Missing School for any reason: Please call the school before 9am to report your childs absence, if they are not going to be in school. Attendance Secretary at 1-260-274-0894. Please leave a voicemail.

Bus Rider to Car Rider:  Before you send your child to school, please make sure you communicate with them, if you have made other plans for their transportation home from school, and where you will meet them. (The parking lot near the football field is ideal for pick-up.)  The MS Office does not need to know this.
