IU-Kokomo Partnership to Expand Dual-Language Immersion Program

IN–Wabash City Schools will be partnering with IU-Kokomo to extend the dual-language immersion (DLI) program at the secondary level. DLI programming is currently offered through 7th grade. This partnership will provide DLI offerings to students as they transition from middle school to high school.

In 7th and 8th grade, DLI students will continue with two DLI courses in their schedule. These courses will be DLI Spanish World Language and DLI Spanish Culture. These courses will strengthen the student’s language skills and knowledge of Spanish culture. When DLI students enter their freshman year of high school, they will begin taking Spanish courses through IU-Kokomo that will allow them to complete a Spanish minor while in high school! Students may choose to continue Spanish courses that may apply to a Spanish major or select courses that align with future career goals in the areas of business, healthcare, or education.
